Happy New Year! As we leave 2017 behind and move into 2018, many people are reflecting back on the past year and looking forward to the new one. This is also a popular day for people to set new personal goals for themselves. Your kitty may also have some resolutions for the new year. Read on as a Brampton, ON vet lists some New Year’s resolutions for cats.
Cats certainly are sleepy little furballs. Fluffy spends about 14 hours a day sleeping, on average, but she can sleep as much as 20 hours a day. Help your drowsy pet meet this goal by making sure she has lots of comfy beds and napping spots.
Although our feline friends like to spend time doing absolutely nothing, they do try to lend their owners a helping paw from time to time. Fluffy may curl up in a basket of fresh laundry to keep it warm and make sure it gets properly furred. Or, she may help you clear your coffee table by smacking small objects off it.
As mentioned above, cats are quite sleepy little furballs. However, catching Z’s doesn’t burn anywhere near the amount of calories that catching mice does. Fluffy may vow to pounce more this year. Your furball may also work on her sprinting speeds, and try to decrease the time it takes to get from the kitchen to the bedroom.
Kitties have tried very hard to build reputations as cold and aloof hunters, but at the end of the day, they really are happiest when they feel loved, safe, and perhaps a bit pampered. Pay lots of attention to your cute pet, and keep that little motor going. Fluffy will repay you with kitty kisses, purrs, and cuddles. (And, of course, by occasionally pouncing on your toes.)
Cats are small, but they have big purrsonalities. Fluffy may show her true courage as she runs past the vacuum cleaner, or meows her way through a scary car ride.
As we all know, our feline pals are very curious. Fluffy may want to do some exploring this year, even if that just means checking out a closet or cabinet that’s usually closed.
