6 Things to Do With Your Dog This Summer

May 15, 2020

Summer is just around the corner! Many people are pulling their warm-weather gear out of storage, and making plans for the next few months. Why not include your canine buddy in your plans? Read on as a local Brampton, ON vet lists some things to do with Fido this summer.

Take A Walk In The Park

If we were able to poll our canine patients as to what their favorite summer activity would be, we suspect a significant number of them would list going to parks. This is a great way for you and your pooch to enjoy a change of scenery and get some fresh air!

Play

There may be no better example of the word joy than watching a playful pup happily running after his favorite toy or stick. Take some time to play with Fido outside while the weather is nice. Playing Fetch or Frisbee with a bouncy dog is one of the best things in life, as far as we are concerned!

Host A Party

Summer is a prime time for grilling out. Have some friends over, and allow them to bring their canine pals. Host a potluck for your human pals, and set out lots of toys and treats for Fido and his buddies. Snap some cute photos of the festivities! Just make sure that all your four-legged guests are current on their vaccinations and parasite control products.

Explore

Ontario is a beautiful state, and it’s filled with hidden treasures. Pull up a list of local spots you haven’t seen yet, and head off on a day trip with your friends and your pup. This is a great way to make memories!

Enjoy A Cold Snack

Ice cream is definitely one of the best things about summer in our book. Many of our canine patients agree! You can pick up ice cream for Fido in many pet stores and supermarkets. You can also make your own. Just be sure to stick to pet-safe ingredients, like natural peanut butter, plain yogurt, and ripe bananas.

Soak Up Some Sun

Winter will be back all too soon. Enjoy some down time with your furry bff, and just relax in a sunny spot. Sometimes these quiet moments are the ones we treasure the most!
