Vaccination & Wellness
Vaccination of our pets remains one of the fundamental ways we ensure disease prevention. While rabies remains the one vaccine at the forefront of many of our clients’ minds, there are many other deadly diseases a vaccination program is designed to prevent.
While we offer a “core” group of standard vaccines, here at Dixie Road Pet Clinic we understand each of our patients’ lead different lifestyles, thus we also offer an array of optional vaccines to customize their vaccine regime. Our veterinarians will work with you to create a specific vaccine program for your cat or dog to ensure optimal protection and peace of mind.
Wellness testing refers to the detection of disease before your pet may show symptoms. In doing so, we often are able to slow down the progression of the disease, or even prevent the symptoms from appearing. Routine physical examinations and wellness diagnostic screens (e.g. blood work, urine testing, stool/fecal sample testing etc.) are the most common components of the wellness prevention program.
Our pets are tough, and often mask their symptoms long before we are able to detect them. Commonly an organ such as the liver or kidney must lose 60-70% of its function to even lead to observable clinical symptoms! As such, routine wellness screens are an integral part of ensuring our pets overall well-being. Please ask your veterinary team how a wellness program can benefit your pet.
